The story behind the name

Very sporty 2-man sailboat with lifting keel, trapeze and spinnaker. Despite the keel it behaves very much like a yawl. It's design allows it to upright itself after capsizing. In 1972 the Tempest replaced the Star as the Olympic class standard, but was ousted from Olympic status in 1976 by the Star due to its greater prevalence and very strong Class organisation. There is a half model specially handcrafted for us in the cabin.
